Leads Wellcome’s strategy for tools, technologies, methodologies and AI across Discovery Research. Responsibilities include identifying emerging opportunities, shaping funding priorities, building cross-sector partnerships, coordinating strategic programmes, evaluating portfolio impact, informing decisions with evidence, and promoting responsible, inclusive innovation. The role requires significant research, funding, technology or innovation experience, expertise in AI or related tools for health research, complex programme leadership, and partnership development across academia, industry, government and funders.

Lead analytical projects from problem definition through delivery, developing dashboards, models, datasets, and AI-enabled solutions. Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable insights, communicate findings, improve data literacy, and influence organisational decision-making. Provide technical leadership, mentor colleagues, and promote innovation and continuous improvement across data and analytics workstreams.

Produce and edit accessible digital content for Wellcome’s corporate communications, including leadership messages, strategic explainers, organisational updates, video, photography and social media content. Translate complex scientific, policy and organisational information into engaging communications. Plan and publish cross-channel content, collaborate with senior executives and internal teams, manage editorial workflows, support community monitoring, and use analytics, search data, SEO and accessibility standards to improve content effectiveness.
