A 12-week swine industry internship on a farrow-to-wean farm. Responsibilities include animal care, breeding, farrowing assistance, piglet processing, feeding, sanitation, biosecurity, recordkeeping, sample collection, and animal welfare. The intern will complete a measurable swine research project, create staff training videos, visit multiple farm sites, and present findings to the swine management team. Manage a farrow-to-wean sow farm, overseeing breeding, farrowing, animal care, feeding, treatment, processing, weaning, sanitation, biosecurity, and recordkeeping. Lead, train, coach, and schedule employees while managing payroll, supplies, maintenance budgets, and production reports. Ensure animal welfare, regulatory compliance, effective communication, and farm financial performance. The role requires physical farm work, rotating weekends, extra hours, and limited travel for meetings and supply pickup.
