Manages R&D projects at a federal energy laboratory, developing project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, dashboards, and risk mitigations. Coordinates engineering, operations, safety, quality, subcontractors, material purchases, and federal stakeholders. Leads status meetings, monitors progress, controls scope, and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. The role is primarily on-site and may involve limited travel, safety equipment, and physical shop environments.

Prepare mechanical designs, advanced 3D models, and 2D drawings using NX1980 and Teamcenter. Perform tolerance and stack-up calculations, apply GD&T standards, develop layouts, and coordinate design solutions with engineering staff. Specify components and materials while meeting project schedules and quality requirements. The role is primarily onsite at Fermilab with possible remote work and requires at least five years of designer experience plus demonstrated SolidWorks/NX proficiency.

Leads new product introduction and process development for electronics manufacturing, transitioning products from concept through production release. Responsibilities include DFM, manufacturing process flows, work instructions, tooling, first builds, pilot runs, process optimization, yield improvement, scrap reduction, root cause investigations, and corrective actions. Partners with quality, supply chain, program management, production, and customers to achieve quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
