Develop and test embedded firmware and software for battery-electric locomotive control systems. Responsibilities include C/C++ and Python development, industrial HMI design, Linux configuration, communication protocols, high-voltage control algorithms, SCADA and MQTT integration, safety-critical validation, and system testing. The role collaborates with electrical and mechanical engineering teams across laboratory and field environments.

Supports locomotive rebuild and retrofit manufacturing by connecting design engineering with shop-floor teams. Creates SolidWorks models and documentation, guides sheet-metal fabrication, interprets schematics, troubleshoots pneumatic, coolant, networking, and control systems, and performs onsite measurements. Develops work instructions, supports DFM/DFA, coordinates tooling and fixtures, and leads root-cause and corrective-action investigations across Jacksonville and Huntington rebuild shops.

Lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team from 10 to 30 members, owning product development and testing from concept through deployment. Coordinate hardware, electrical, and software integration, establish Agile/Scrum practices, manage timelines and commercial commitments, develop supplier partnerships, present technical progress to customers, and balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

Build Voltify’s sales and go-to-market engine from the ground up by developing rail-industry relationships, securing strategic partnerships, closing contracts, and creating recurring revenue. The role includes defining pricing, deal structures, revenue models, pilot conversion strategies, sales KPIs, pipeline processes, and scalable commercial systems while leveraging AI and automation.

Design and integrate electrical systems for battery-electric locomotives, including schematics, PCB layouts, wire harnesses, communication protocols, embedded controllers, testing, EMC mitigation, and high-voltage DC safety. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and production teams to optimize designs for manufacturing and harsh rail environments. Support Linux-based configurations and automated testing while contributing to safety-critical and sustainable transportation technologies.

Lead migration to and administration of a SolidWorks PDM environment, organize CAD data, establish modeling and drawing standards, and produce manufacturing-ready assembly and detail drawings. Collaborate with remote manufacturing teams, support ECOs, train engineering staff on revision control, and contribute to mechanical component and subassembly design for rail locomotive rebuild operations.

Own the full recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate closing, and onboarding. Support employee engagement, well-being, retention, performance reviews, HR documentation, policy compliance, and internal communications. Partner with leadership and hiring managers to scale the organization, improve employee experience, address concerns, and build an inclusive, high-performance culture.

Lead development and deployment of PLC and soft-PLC control software for microgrid systems powering rail locomotive charging infrastructure. Integrate solar, battery storage, grid interconnections, and chargers using industrial protocols and cloud-edge communications. Commission and troubleshoot systems at deployment sites, establish engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and make architecture decisions. The role is expected to grow into leading the U.S. controls team.
