Teams at Vitol

Develop and maintain Vitol’s in-house commodity trading risk management systems covering PnL, risk, valuation, reporting, and finance. The role combines software engineering and business analysis, requiring direct engagement with trading, finance, and senior stakeholders to gather requirements, model data, design solutions, test, deploy, train users, and provide ongoing support. Responsibilities include building scalable reporting architecture, valuation engines, finance functionality, and systems integrations. Occasional travel to international offices may be required.

Analyzes charterparty and sale contracts, shipping documents, and demurrage claims. Computes claims, reviews claims received, negotiates settlements, liaises with internal teams and external counterparties, reports outstanding positions, and monitors relevant industry developments and legal case law.

Maintain and improve internal trading technology applications, deployment tools, developer environments, reporting systems, messaging tools, batch services, and CI/CD quality tooling. The role involves automating workflows, improving reliability and developer productivity, supporting releases, integrating AI-enabled development tools, and collaborating across engineering and support teams.
