Teams at Viam

Own the roadmap, strategy, architecture decisions, developer experience, and adoption metrics for a core Viam platform area. Lead capabilities from problem definition through customer deployment, including migrations and deprecations. Partner with engineering, senior leadership, customers, and forward-deployed engineers to identify bottlenecks and shape platform direction. The role requires software engineering experience, strong technical credibility, developer-facing product expertise, market research skills, and interest in hardware or physical systems.

Lead a team of five forward deployed engineers responsible for customer production deployments. Own deployment architecture, prioritization, technical escalations, customer leadership relationships, staffing, and delivery schedules. Coach engineers, make systems integration decisions across SDKs and edge/cloud architectures, and translate field learnings into product priorities. The role requires strong systems judgment, enterprise customer credibility, technical fluency, and comfort working with hardware, physical systems, unreliable networks, and incomplete information.

The Lead Software Engineer will manage a team, drive the architecture of data pipelines, and enhance ML infrastructure while ensuring system performance and reliability.
