Supports institutional investment activities through real estate analysis, due diligence, research, portfolio risk analysis, reporting, and Investment Committee materials. Gathers and organizes investment information, participates in diligence meetings, prepares research papers, and contributes to recommendations and portfolio solutions. The intern develops expertise in investment strategies, Excel and database tools, financial analysis, communication, and portfolio management while maintaining confidentiality and compliance requirements.

Monitors investment compliance across public pension portfolios, managers, trading, ethics, proxy voting, policies, risk, performance, asset allocation, and regulatory requirements. Reviews due diligence, verifies portfolio and variance data, supports investment policy updates, trains fiduciary staff, responds to regulators, and reports compliance findings. The role requires strong investment, financial markets, analytical, statistical, reporting, and communication skills, with occasional business travel.

Owns the Finance Division’s accounting and reporting systems, including general ledger, accounts payable, budgeting, reporting, interfaces, security, and data governance. Configures and tests workflows, troubleshoots system issues, maintains financial reports, administers access controls, supports audits, coordinates with IT, and evaluates system enhancements. Ensures accurate data flows, reliable system performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with finance operations, reporting deadlines, and organizational requirements.

Supports participating employers and members with retirement account information, payroll file submissions, contributions, reports, payments, and account changes. Researches and resolves discrepancies, maintains accurate retirement records, reviews employer documentation, supports onboarding and data validation, coordinates benefit statements, and provides correspondence and telephone assistance. The role also collaborates with Finance and other departments, assists with process improvements and training, and handles confidential financial and retirement-system information.

Performs independent financial, operational, regulatory, and compliance audits for Utah Retirement Systems and PEHP. Evaluates internal controls, risk management, governance, transactions, records, and regulatory adherence; identifies fraud indicators; develops audit plans and procedures; prepares workpapers, flowcharts, findings, and reports; communicates recommendations to management; conducts external and real estate portfolio audits; and supports quality reviews while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
