Leads the Platform Engineering organization across software, hardware, electronics, firmware, robotics, and systems integration. Sets engineering strategy, priorities, standards, and resource plans; drives delivery and technical decision-making; ensures platform coherence, reliability, scalability, verification, and lifecycle support. Partners with product, operations, customer delivery, suppliers, and customers while developing leaders, talent plans, professional practices, and succession capabilities.

Year-in-industry placement working on multidisciplinary technology and product-development projects, including invention, engineering analysis, prototype design, and transfer to manufacture. The role also involves client interaction, presenting technical findings, understanding markets, and developing consulting and entrepreneurial skills. Projects may span drug-delivery devices, AI-enabled drug discovery, and 5G antenna technologies. The placement is fully onsite near Cambridge and begins in August or September 2027.

Own end-to-end firmware development for robotic bioprocess manufacturing systems, from requirements and architecture through production support. Develop robust C firmware for ARM and STM32 microcontrollers, create automated unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop tests, and debug embedded systems using laboratory equipment. Collaborate with electronics, mechanical, automation, software, systems, and biology teams. Build supporting tools, contribute to motion-control algorithms, and potentially work on electronics, Docker-based environments, and embedded Linux interfaces.
