Processes human tissue specimens for microscopic examination and patient diagnosis through grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, mounting, recuts, special stains, and immunohistochemistry. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, performs quality control, files pathology materials, manages hazardous waste, and complies with CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and state regulations. May train laboratory assistants and collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff.
