Teams at SUN Behavioral Kentucky

Coordinates utilization management and case management activities for behavioral healthcare patients from admission through discharge. Reviews admissions, concurrent care, retroactive cases, denials, and appeals; coordinates authorizations with insurers and communicates with clinical and business teams. Documents patient status and review outcomes in the EMR, supports discharge planning, monitors regulatory requirements, and helps maintain continuity of care while reducing claim denials.

Coordinates outpatient patient intake, transportation, referrals, check-in, insurance and admission documentation. Communicates with patients, families, therapists, staff and ancillary departments; manages reminder calls, copay collection, pre-certification paperwork and patient records in the EMR. Supports a safe, compassionate behavioral healthcare environment, follows hospital policies and HIPAA requirements, participates in quality improvement activities, and assists patients with forms and referrals.

Provide safety and security patrols across the hospital campus, monitor patient and vehicle activity, assist nursing staff with de-escalation and elopement searches, document safety concerns and belongings/contraband, respond to crisis situations and participate in safety programs and quality initiatives.
