Per-diem EMT Apprentices attend a non-paid EMT Academy (SBES covers $2,500) and work two 12‑hour paid BLS ambulance shifts weekly. Apprentices earn $19/hr during training and may be offered $20/hr after NREMT certification. Candidates must pass background, medical clearance, and lift test, meet physical and academic expectations, commit to a two‑year service obligation, and complete the NREMT exam soon after class completion.
