Lead the intersection of patent law and AI product development for global and Japanese IP markets. Engineer and evaluate AI outputs for patent tasks, build legal benchmarks, shape the product roadmap, support client pilots and demos, develop AI adoption playbooks, and ensure readiness for Japanese-language patent documents and JPO practices. The role requires patent qualification, Japanese and English fluency, technical expertise, client engagement, and regular travel between London or New York and Japan.

Build and operate large-scale data ingestion, document processing, search, and serving systems for AI products. Responsibilities include handling massive heterogeneous datasets, designing schemas and indexes, enabling keyword, vector, and structured search, linking information across sources, and optimizing performance, reliability, latency, and cost. The role owns systems end to end, from source acquisition through user-facing functionality, and collaborates with AI researchers and product engineers.

Legal Counsel will support US expansion by negotiating complex B2B SaaS agreements, advising AI and engineering teams on product risks, managing privacy and security compliance across jurisdictions, and developing scalable legal policies and processes. The role partners with executive leadership and addresses novel generative AI legal issues in a fast-growing technology startup.
