The Senior Safety Specialist supports EHS programs for high-hazard battery manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, chemical inventory and hazardous waste management, safety audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, emergency preparedness, training coordination, Process Safety Management, and tracking safety performance indicators. The role collaborates with operations, engineering, maintenance, laboratories, and business teams to improve safe work practices and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Conduct experiments to optimize synthesis and processing routes for sulfide solid-state battery electrolytes. Assist engineers with material characterization, data acquisition, and analysis using electrochemical, physical, and chemical techniques. Handle hazardous materials safely, maintain housekeeping standards, communicate experimental findings, and contribute to experimental planning and brainstorming. The role is part-time during the fall semester and requires PPE use and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Conducts lab-scale experiments and analytical measurements for solid-state battery product development under engineer supervision. Documents and analyzes results, communicates findings and roadblocks, follows SOPs and laboratory safety procedures, and works with hazardous materials in gloveboxes and dry rooms. The intern will support materials synthesis and characterization while collaborating in a fast-paced engineering and science environment.
