The Senior Safety Specialist supports EHS programs for high-hazard battery manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, chemical inventory and hazardous waste management, safety audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, emergency preparedness, training coordination, Process Safety Management, and tracking safety performance indicators. The role collaborates with operations, engineering, maintenance, laboratories, and business teams to improve safe work practices and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Conduct experiments to optimize synthesis and processing routes for sulfide solid-state battery electrolytes. Assist engineers with material characterization, data acquisition, and analysis using electrochemical, physical, and chemical techniques. Handle hazardous materials safely, maintain housekeeping standards, communicate experimental findings, and contribute to experimental planning and brainstorming. The role is part-time during the fall semester and requires PPE use and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Conducts lab-scale experiments and analytical measurements for solid-state battery product development under engineer supervision. Documents and analyzes results, communicates findings and roadblocks, follows SOPs and laboratory safety procedures, and works with hazardous materials in gloveboxes and dry rooms. The intern will support materials synthesis and characterization while collaborating in a fast-paced engineering and science environment.

Leads the design, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial control systems for advanced manufacturing equipment. Develops PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications; integrates instrumentation, networking, safety systems, drives, and plant data platforms; reviews electrical and controls designs; supports FAT, SAT, startup, and production ramp; maintains documentation and standards; resolves urgent equipment issues; and mentors technical personnel across engineering, operations, maintenance, and vendor teams.

Provide front-desk coverage and visitor check-in, coordinate meeting and event logistics, support internal communications and employee engagement, assist HR with onboarding and administrative tasks, maintain office supplies and appearance, and ensure confidentiality and site safety. Use Microsoft Office and basic design tools to create materials and communications.

Lead end-to-end, customer-facing programs for solid-state battery materials commercialization. Own scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality; align cross-functional teams (R&D, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain); drive APQP/phase-gate reviews; manage external vendors and customer communications; mitigate risks and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while coordinating with the SP Korea office.

Lead and manage a laboratory team supporting analytical testing for solid-state electrolyte and battery cell pilot lines. Oversee QMS, equipment calibration and maintenance, validation protocols, audits, QA procedures, staffing, safety, data analysis, and cross-functional problem solving to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Develop and optimize solid-state electrolyte materials via synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical testing; improve production processes, document SOPs, follow safety protocols, mentor junior staff, and collaborate cross-functionally to meet customer requirements.
