Lead the hands-on buildout and commissioning of vacuum induction melting furnaces from design review and procurement through assembly and first melts. Manage suppliers, fabrication technicians, contractors, and outside machine shops; resolve integration and manufacturability issues; establish build procedures, tooling, shop layouts, quality standards, and safe operating procedures for scalable furnace production.

Lead Solcoa’s engineering organization in developing and scaling rare earth metal production. Own process development, high-temperature reactor design, commercial plant process engineering, and the engineering, construction, commissioning, and ramp-up of the first production facility. Set technical milestones, manage research and engineering teams, identify hiring and capital needs, and help define the company’s metal production strategy.

Own the design, implementation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and controls for metals-processing systems. Develop PLC-based automation for reactors, gas delivery, and furnaces; design measurement, data logging, alarms, interlocks, and shutdown functions; integrate controls with process and mechanical systems; verify calibration, wiring, logic, and safety functions; resolve startup issues; and prepare operating documentation and training.

Manages daily office and facility operations, vendors, supplies, purchasing support, onboarding, leadership calendars, travel logistics, interviews, events, stakeholder visits, and administrative support for HR and finance. Maintains organized workplace systems and handles invoices, expenses, insurance paperwork, and operational problem-solving in a fast-moving industrial startup.

Owns end-to-end procurement for equipment, parts, raw materials, consumables, services, and plant operations. Responsibilities include supplier sourcing and qualification, RFQs, negotiations, order tracking, freight coordination, supplier quality resolution, purchasing process development, inventory visibility, and cost savings. Partners with engineering, research, and operations in a fast-paced rare-earth metals manufacturing startup.

Leads Solcoa’s commercial strategy, customer relationships, sales pipeline, partnerships, contract negotiations, pricing, supply agreements, and recurring revenue growth. The Chief Commercial Officer will secure customers among magnet manufacturers and industrial buyers, guide products through qualification, negotiate long-term offtakes, coordinate with technical and operations teams, and build the commercial organization while remaining directly involved in sales.

Own the mechanical and thermal design of modular high-temperature reactors from concept through operating hardware. Responsibilities include reactor vessel, crucible, seal, and handling mechanism design; thermal and structural validation; CAD, drawings, tolerances, bills of materials, and equipment specifications; design for manufacturing and maintenance; prototype assembly, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and factory acceptance testing; and technical leadership of mechanical engineering activities.

Manage end-to-end technical recruiting for engineering, process, and operations roles: source, screen, interview, negotiate offers, maintain pipelines, own Ashby ATS, track metrics, and advise leadership on talent market and compensation.

The Head of Government Relations will develop and execute Solcoa's federal strategy, build relationships with key policymakers, pursue government financing, and influence trade policy to support the company’s critical minerals initiatives.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll design, prototype, and scale rare-earth reactors, collaborating with machinists and researchers while documenting procedures and safety plans.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support CAD designs, assist in prototype fabrication, run tests, and maintain documentation while contributing to a safety-first culture.
