Teams at Smithfield Foods

Supports maintenance and engineering teams by troubleshooting, repairing, testing, installing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment throughout a food manufacturing plant. Reads blueprints and schematics, performs preventive maintenance, evaluates equipment performance, develops improvement solutions, supports production and quality teams, and follows GMP, safety, and ISO 14001 procedures. The role also coordinates maintenance activities, documents findings, and may operate industrial lifts and travel periodically.

Lead front-line production shifts to meet safety, USDA/HACCP, quality, and yield targets. Train, coach and supervise hourly employees, monitor efficiencies, perform floor inspections, manage equipment setup/maintenance, and drive continuous improvement to reduce downtime and costs.

Leads corporate environmental, health, and safety programs, compliance, audits, risk mitigation, training, workers’ compensation coordination, and emergency response. Develops EHS policies and systems, supports operational teams, manages audit findings, interprets EHS data, and coaches senior regional EHS managers. Requires extensive knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations, EHS databases, program development, and organizational leadership. The role involves travel to other locations up to 50% of the time.
