The Managing Editor leads daily newsroom operations, editorial workflow, story assignments, editing, fact-checking, and publication standards. The role manages editors, reporters, freelancers, calendars, budgets, hiring, and performance feedback while partnering with the Editor-in-Chief on strategy. Responsibilities also include coordinating with audience, social, video, and development teams, tracking editorial output and impact, and supporting investigative journalism focused on factory farming and related environmental, public health, labor, and rural community issues.
