Teams at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL)

Creates physical and electrical designs, CAD drawings, estimates, and project documentation for high-voltage protective relay and power automation systems. Supports technical leads, mentors drafters, meets project budgets and timelines, and develops expertise in SEL equipment and industry design practices. May assist with testing and commissioning of protective relay, process control, and SCADA systems.

Analyzes and develops basic analog and digital circuits under experienced-engineer guidance. Conducts design reviews, supports hardware specifications, writes and executes test plans, documents results, estimates work, and applies engineering and manufacturing processes. Preferred experience includes FPGA, power supply, communications interface, EMC compliance, prototyping, PCB layout, and programmable logic design.

Leads automation project engineering from planning and design through testing and commissioning. Designs control logic, network configurations, HMI and SCADA integrations, controller configurations, and technical specifications. Acts as a customer-facing technical lead, researches equipment and emerging technologies, oversees schedules and deliverables, reviews quality, supports field safety and commissioning, and mentors project engineers. Requires power-system drawings, communication protocols, SCADA, HMI, and OT networking expertise, with at least 25% domestic and international travel.
