Leads San Francisco Recreation and Park Department’s Natural Resources Division, overseeing conservation and restoration of natural areas, habitat, biodiversity, trails, pest management, budgets, safety, staff, contractors, regulatory compliance, and community coordination. Provides policy and technical guidance on natural resource issues, manages implementation of the department’s Natural Resources Management Plan, and serves as the department’s subject matter expert. Requires driving a department vehicle and supervising multidisciplinary staff.

Evaluate victim compensation claims by verifying applicant eligibility, crime-related losses, reimbursements, and recovery sources. Guide victims and service providers through California Victim Compensation Board processes, explain requirements, answer inquiries, document claim activity, apply changing policies, collaborate with advocates and government agencies, and support clients who may be in crisis while maintaining confidentiality and accurate records.

Conducts confidential pre- and post-offer employment background investigations and internal affairs inquiries for sworn and non-sworn probation personnel. Responsibilities include reviewing records, interviewing references and subjects, conducting field investigations, collecting and preserving evidence, applying California public safety statutes and POBR requirements, preparing legally defensible reports, maintaining secure case files, collaborating with legal and oversight bodies, and testifying in administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings.
