RunMatch turns running into a winnable bet. Compete by Running. Winners earn real money for real miles.
RunMatch is a peer-to-peer running competition platform that turns running into a winnable bet. Friends and run clubs challenge each other to real-money competitions in three formats: Race (first to a target distance wins), Most Miles (highest mileage in 7 days takes it), or Streak (hit your daily target every day or you're out). Buy-ins range from free to $50+, with prize pools scaling by group size — a 4-person match at $25 each creates a $100 winner-take-all pot. Every run is GPS-tracked through Strava, scoring is fully automated, and payouts go directly to the winner's bank or debit card via Stripe. There's no manual logging, no fake miles, and no scoring disputes — just real verification, real stakes, and real consequences for not showing up. The product is built on behavioral economics research: commitment contracts with real-money stakes consistently triple goal-completion rates compared to willpower or motivation alone. RunMatch applies that same mechanism to one of the most common abandoned habits — running. New users get a free $10 starter race: run 1 mile through Strava, we send them $10 to their wallet. From there, they can challenge friends with real-money buy-ins. Founded in 2026 by tech natives passionate about running, RunMatch started as an internal experiment for a small group of friends. After watching the group log 30-40% more miles per week than they had on their own, the founders decided to build it as a proper platform for runners everywhere. The app launched on iOS in early 2026 and is integrated with Strava as the foundational tracking layer. Skill-based competition platform — same legal model as Daily Fantasy Sports and commitment-contract platforms (StickK, HealthyWage). Available in the App Store under Health & Fitness.
