Teams at Rootly

Set technical direction for Rootly’s platform engineering function, defining platform standards, shared infrastructure primitives, observability practices, SLOs, and reliability guardrails. Build developer self-service tooling, drive adoption across engineering teams, improve incident management, and mentor senior engineers. Partner with leadership on platform vision and roadmap while solving infrastructure challenges through production-grade software. The role requires deep cloud, distributed systems, reliability, Rails or equivalent framework, and job-system expertise.

Own and improve Rootly’s developer platform, including CI pipelines, test infrastructure, deploy trains, staging environments, and developer tooling. Instrument delivery workflows, reduce merge-to-production time, identify flaky tests, improve rollback and smoke gates, and accelerate local development and onboarding. Partner with platform engineering, QA, and product teams while tracking developer experience metrics such as build time, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate.

Build and maintain Rootly’s AWS infrastructure, reliability systems, observability, CI/CD tooling, datastores, and security hardening. Responsibilities include infrastructure-as-code changes, credential rotation, alert tuning, failover drills, runbooks, automation, incident response, and on-call participation. The role requires production systems experience, AWS and Terraform or OpenTofu expertise, monitoring knowledge, coding ability, and experience supporting production services.
