PILI graduate fellows support ACLU of Illinois civil rights and civil liberties litigation and advocacy. Responsibilities include legal, policy, and factual research; drafting memoranda, affidavits, and brief sections; cite-checking; interviewing potential clients and class members; and investigating case facts. Fellows receive mentorship and feedback from supervising attorneys while working in a hybrid Chicago-based program.

Supports civil rights and civil liberties litigation and advocacy through legal, policy, and factual research; drafting memoranda, affidavits, and brief sections; cite-checking; interviewing potential clients and class members; and investigating case facts. Interns receive attorney mentorship and feedback while working in a hybrid format. Applicants must be law students with at least one completed year of law school, located in Illinois, and able to work in the Chicago office weekly.

Supports civil rights and civil liberties impact litigation and advocacy through legal research, drafting briefs and complaints, legislative analysis, discovery, hearings, settlement work, client outreach, and collaboration with community organizations. The fellow will work under Legal Department supervision in a hybrid Chicago office setting and must secure external fellowship funding.
