Test Engineering Interns will support Rocket Lab’s Test & Launch Operations team in Wallops Island, Virginia. The role provides hands-on exposure to test and launch operations while improving tools, procedures, efficiency, repeatability, and safety. Interns collaborate with mentors and cross-functional teams, apply engineering concepts to real challenges, lead development projects, and provide progress updates. The position requires full-time, on-site work for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning in early 2027.

Design, integrate, and verify software and firmware for space-based optical instruments and payloads. Responsibilities include requirements allocation, systems architecture, technical budgets, simulations, test planning, verification and validation, risk mitigation, configuration control, and requirements traceability. The role supports spacecraft payload development, technical documentation, partner discussions, and software verification campaigns while mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
