Performs pre-analytic and analytic laboratory procedures, including specimen handling, processing, diagnostic testing, result reporting, quality control, calibration, maintenance, and corrective-action documentation. Conducts routine and specialized testing using laboratory equipment and instrumentation, maintains accurate records, follows safety and quality policies, and delivers timely results to support patient care. Works day shifts, including alternating weekends and holidays.

Coordinates clinical resource management, utilization review, discharge planning, and appeals for patient care and reimbursement. Analyzes payment denials, identifies trends, maintains payer databases, prepares reports, educates staff on supporting documentation, and communicates with third-party representatives. The role assesses patient needs using InterQual and approved clinical guidelines, coordinates individualized care with interdisciplinary teams, provides clinical reviews and unit coverage, and participates in committees and special projects.

Oversee 24-hour unit nursing operations: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; coordinate nursing activities; ensure compliance with hospital, state DOH, JCAHO, and accrediting standards; perform administrative and managerial duties on night shift.
