Designs precision optomechanical assemblies for free-space optical communication terminals used on unmanned aerial vehicles, high-altitude platforms, and spacecraft. Collaborates with optical, electrical, and software engineering teams to define requirements and develop solutions optimized for performance, size, weight, power, and cost. Requires mechanical engineering expertise, CAD proficiency, and experience with robotic hardware optomechanical design. Composite materials, aerospace design, and fiber optic or laser system experience are preferred.

Design and integrate RF communication systems for lunar, deep-space, satellite, and other mission applications. Responsibilities include defining subsystem requirements and interfaces, developing architectures and link budgets, implementing waveforms and modulation techniques, conducting RF modeling and simulations, performing integration and testing, troubleshooting, and analyzing communication performance. Collaborate with systems, software, avionics, GNC, payload, and ground systems teams.

Test and troubleshoot RF communication systems supporting lunar, deep-space, satellite, and ground-station missions. Define test environments, acquire or build test equipment and software, validate architectures and interfaces, and analyze communication performance including link margins, throughput, coverage, and synchronization. Collaborate with systems, software, avionics, GNC, payload, and ground teams to integrate and verify communication systems while ensuring compliance with standards and requirements.

Support selection, specification, integration, testing, qualification, and verification of spacecraft GN&C flight hardware for lunar missions. Responsibilities include developing requirements and interfaces, managing supplier and procurement activities, performing trade studies and risk assessments, supporting environmental and acceptance testing, troubleshooting integration anomalies, conducting HIL and system tests, and preparing technical documentation. The role also supports flight readiness, mission operations preparation, and post-test or post-flight analysis.

Design and implement firmware and DSP algorithms for free-space optical communication terminals. Collaborate with optical, mechanical, and electrical teams, develop code and HDL for hardware, and contribute to product development across IRAD and SBIR projects.
