Responsible for reviewing, testing, and certifying flight termination system (FTS) hardware and electronics to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance. Perform environmental qualification (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC), apply NASA/MIL-STD/FAA range safety requirements, and provide operational and systems support for launch vehicle safety.

Perform flight hazard identification, risk and casualty expectation analyses, calculate flight safety limits for guided and unguided orbital and sub-orbital vehicles, evaluate failure modes and fault trees, support mission compliance with range safety criteria, and produce technical briefings and reports for launch operations.

Leads mission operations planning for NASA satellite missions, including activation and calibration sequences, contingency procedures, ground testing, mission rehearsals, operations concepts, staffing and facility planning, spacecraft-to-ground data flows, and science data traceability. Coordinates instrument, spacecraft, flight operations, science, and IT security teams while driving working group decisions and action items to completion.

Provide on-site software assurance support at NASA Wallops Flight Facility ensuring ground and flight software complies with NASA standards throughout the software lifecycle. Perform requirements/design/code/test reviews, inspections, configuration audits, track nonconformances and corrective actions, interpret software lifecycle artifacts, and produce audit reports and surveillance records. Position is part-time and requires an active Secret security clearance and facility access.

Onsite software engineer supporting USGS EROS projects: design, implement, test, and maintain software components; participate in requirements, design reviews, configuration management, and testing; collaborate with cross-functional teams; mentor junior staff; and support full software development lifecycle for data ingest, image processing, and cloud/distributed systems.

Remote Network Engineer supporting NOAA LEO Ground Sustainment Services. Manage network infrastructure, perform cybersecurity hardening (STIG/SCA/POA&M), run vulnerability scanning (Nessus/Tenable), automate and orchestrate with Ansible/Terraform, and brief senior stakeholders on remediation and risk.

Provide supplier-site quality surveillance and hardware QA for spaceflight hardware, performing inspections (PCBs, soldering, conformal coating, harnesses), document anomalies and corrective actions, support production planning and MRR/TRR, monitor contractor quality/safety, and support pre-ship, transport, and launch-site processing and tests.

Perform design, development, calibration, manufacturing, test, and characterization of electro-optical elements, subsystems, and fiber optic assemblies for spaceflight and ground systems. Develop manufacturing and verification processes, maintain work travelers and test logs, perform fusion splicing and polymeric applications, and assist with thermal, thermal-vacuum, and cryogenic testing.

Provide systems engineering support for satellite communications and ground station systems, including RF/antenna equipment maintenance, requirements development, interface definition, integration and test, configuration management, troubleshooting, and coordination with engineering and mission partners per established SEMP and standards.

Lead architecture, design, and modernization of large-scale remote sensing and Earth observation data processing systems. Drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, oversee testing and CI/CD, manage configuration/change processes, and ensure solutions meet security and enterprise standards while collaborating with scientists and stakeholders.

Design and implement firmware and DSP algorithms for free-space optical communication terminals. Collaborate with optical, mechanical, and electrical teams, develop code and HDL for hardware, and contribute to product development across IRAD and SBIR projects.

Designs, develops, and tests RF/microwave systems and components including antennas, frequency synthesizers, transmitters/receivers, SATCOM, and tactical communications. Performs system integration, test planning, analysis, and documentation; coordinates engineering tasks and supports engineering change and rework.

Lead and direct complex RF engineering projects, ensuring technical adequacy, quality, schedule, and customer relations. Establish project requirements, coordinate across teams and vendors, mentor junior engineers, and propose corrective management actions as needed to meet operational objectives.

Set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers and manual machine tools to manufacture prototypes and components from CAD drawings and prints, inspect parts using basic GD&T, perform layout and sequencing, and assemble/fabricate parts with hand and power tools under minimal supervision.
