Own API and MCP pricing and packaging, close the first paying accounts, support onboarding, and bring customer learning back into the product. This role combines hands-on integration engineering, technical sales, account support, and commercial ownership. The engineer will also help define the operating charter and playbook for future forward deployed hires.

Own the distributed serving and data infrastructure powering globally served pages and governed multi-agent build loops. Design caching, indexing, rebuild, reliability, observability, performance, and invariant-based enforcement systems. Take end-to-end responsibility for correctness, uptime, failure handling, latency budgets, and production incidents without a dedicated operations team. The role requires independently modeling complex systems, proving correctness under load, and evolving infrastructure as AI capabilities change.

Own a consumer product surface end to end, including product strategy, user experience, roadmap, specifications, metrics, and production delivery. Write detailed specs and acceptance tests for agent-built code, verify implementations, and make judgment calls around trust-critical interfaces, personalization, streaming, citations, and AI assistant distribution. Collaborate with design and engineering while directing coding and verifier agents. The role is based onsite in Santa Monica five days per week.

Own SimplyCodes’ consumer interfaces and design system end to end, from sketches and prototypes through production. Design and build React and CSS interfaces, maintain precise machine-readable tokens and components, and use AI coding and design tools daily while checking their output manually. Improve motion, states, spacing, typography, and trust signals across code-verification and merchant pages. Collaborate with the Founding Designer and founder, with SEO-aware design experience considered a bonus.

Own the product line across conversational shopping, SEO-first Truth Graph pages, personalization, and verified commerce-data capabilities. Write locked specifications, acceptance tests, and quality standards for agent-built products; define decision-support UX and calibrated trust experiences; run product outcomes from intent through verified build; and establish evaluation and verification practices for AI-agent development. This is a founding individual-contributor role working closely with the founder, designer, and operators.

Own the AI agent-facing product, including the API and MCP surfaces, interface contracts, versioning, schemas, reliability, and per-query costs. Define eval-gated specifications and machine-checkable rubrics that coding agents and engineers can build against. Model system architecture, developer needs, latency, trust, provenance, confidence, and schema stability. Work directly with the founder and direct product development inside Cortex.

Own the full product loop for a verified commerce intelligence platform, including product strategy, specifications, acceptance tests, consumer quality, conversational interfaces, personalization, search distribution, and API product design. Work directly with coding agents, define machine-checkable outcomes, verify builds, and make final shipping decisions. Operate independently without an inherited team, earn future headcount through product results, and partner with the founder on strategy and seat governance.

Own end-to-end data studies using proprietary checkout and shopper data, from warehouse queries and statistical validation through publication and media pitches. Conduct interviews, panels, and reporting; maintain canonical statistics; verify agent-generated research; and produce clear, citable findings for journalists and AI answer engines. The role requires independent judgment, hands-on SQL, rigorous source evaluation, and consistent publication of four to six studies or rapid data answers monthly.

Own the monthly close and independent financial sign-off for a profitable $22 million company. Review machine-prepared books, resolve exceptions, reconcile bank and card statements, oversee revenue recognition, maintain the general-ledger mirror, and deliver clean tax handoffs. Build the 13-week cash forecast and operating budget, monitor spending and reserves, and write a concise monthly financial readout for the founder. This is a remote, 10–15-hour-per-week 1099 contract role with fixed close-week responsibilities.
