Philadelphia Museum of Art Benefits Overview

The Director of People and Culture advises museum leadership on workforce strategy, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and workplace culture. They lead employee and labor relations, including union contract administration, grievances, investigations, arbitration preparation, negotiations, performance management, conflict resolution, and manager coaching. The role also supports policies, training, leadership development, employee retention, compliance, and broader People and Culture initiatives.

Provides customer service and sales support in museum stores, including assisting shoppers, processing register transactions, capturing memberships and emails, gift wrapping, maintaining store standards, supporting inventory and visual merchandising, and retrieving and stocking merchandise. Works varied weekday, evening, weekend, and holiday schedules while maintaining a professional, welcoming presence and following museum procedures.

Conduct scientific research and analysis to support preservation and interpretation of museum collections. Collaborate with conservators and curators, publish findings, maintain and select laboratory instruments, mentor staff and trainees, assist with budgeting, outreach, and develop departmental resources and collaborations.
