Senior backend engineer responsible for owning complex SaaS features end to end, from problem definition through production delivery. The role involves building reliable, scalable backend systems, designing APIs, optimizing performance, writing comprehensive tests, handling production issues, and applying safe deployment practices. The engineer will use AI tools in development, collaborate across engineering, product, and design, improve team workflows, document technical decisions, and mentor or support broader engineering capabilities.

Leads multiple engineering teams responsible for Pendo’s large-scale data platform, including real-time ingestion, batch processing, analytics, storage, observability, and query systems. Sets technical strategy, architectural direction, reliability goals, and cost-management practices at petabyte scale. Partners with SRE on incidents and SLOs, supports customer escalations, and hires and develops engineering managers and senior engineers. The role also guides AI-assisted engineering practices and remains technically engaged through design reviews, production debugging, and code contributions.
