Assists forensic pathologists with death investigations, including case preparation, deceased preparation, specimen collection, body dissection, autopsy-area cleaning, body movement and release, specimen disposal, and Saturday autopsy coverage. Follows laboratory safety procedures, regulatory requirements, corporate compliance policies, and privacy and security practices for protected health information and sensitive data.

Accession tissue specimens, prepare cassettes, assist with grossing and frozen sections, operate specimen radiography equipment, manage laboratory records and quality control, prepare specimens for additional testing, maintain supplies and equipment, handle hazardous waste, and follow laboratory safety, privacy, and regulatory procedures.

Performs gross examination and dictation of surgical tissue specimens under pathologist supervision. Responsibilities include submitting specimens for processing, maintaining the cutting room, photographing specimens, preparing tissue for specialized testing, following laboratory safety and procedural requirements, protecting sensitive health information, and maintaining certification-related education.
