Provides shift-level nursing leadership across the hospital by coordinating staffing, bed placement, patient flow, and clinical operations. Serves as the on-site administrative resource for policy interpretation, urgent decisions, and escalation. Supports units during high-volume periods, promotes communication among staff and providers, mentors new RNs, and reinforces safety and infection-control practices.

Prepares operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment; performs first scrub duties; maintains aseptic technique; anticipates surgeon needs; manages counts and specimens; supports patient transfers, documentation, charging, infection prevention, emergency response, and efficient case turnover. Participates in call rotation, precepts staff or students as qualified, and advances through the surgical technologist career ladder.

Provide perioperative nursing care as the circulating RN in the operating room: verify readiness, coordinate surgical team, maintain aseptic technique, perform and document counts, handle specimens, complete EHR documentation, support patient positioning and safety, participate in call rotation, and communicate with leadership to ensure efficient patient flow.
