Teams at New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection

Legal Intern assisting the Office of Transactions and Public Land Administration with legal research, preliminary review and preparation of legal agreements and instruments, and agreement tracking and inventory projects. The role supports contracts, real estate transactions, land acquisitions, conservation restrictions, and related policies. This is a fully in-person internship of up to 35 hours per week in Trenton, New Jersey.

Researches and tracks legislative bills, maintains legislative trackers, attends virtual meetings, records notes, drafts referral responses, and supports special legislative projects. Works closely with the Office of Legislative Affairs director and staff while researching issues related to legislative matters and the Department of Environmental Protection.

Communications interns support public education campaigns and DEP communications through social media drafting, stakeholder outreach, internal communications coordination, event footage capture and editing, and press event assistance. The role develops skills in writing, media relations, video production, social media coordination, and communications strategy while familiarizing interns with environmental agency programs and operations.
