Responsibilities include API integration, cybersecurity remediation, vulnerability mitigation, secure code reviews, defect resolution, performance optimization, architecture documentation, GitHub-based collaboration, and technical stakeholder coordination. The role requires maintaining legacy systems while delivering new software solutions aligned with business and operational requirements.

Administer and secure Linux systems supporting the USGS ShakeAlert platform. Automate infrastructure with Ansible, troubleshoot networks and firewalls, monitor systems, maintain databases, write scripts, support software deployments and messaging infrastructure, remediate vulnerabilities, assist with federal security assessments, and document operational changes. The role requires broad hands-on infrastructure expertise, effective cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to support reliable distributed, real-time scientific systems.

Administer and troubleshoot Linux infrastructure across production, development, and test environments. Perform patching, configuration, security hardening, monitoring, automation, database and messaging support, network troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. Investigate issues across system, application, database, and network layers, escalate appropriately, document findings, and collaborate with technical specialists. The role is fully remote within the United States but requires a Pacific Time workday start and eligibility for a U.S. Government Public Trust position.
