Underwriting intern evaluates commercial auto insurance risks using driver quality, loss history, and business operations. The role identifies potential concerns, communicates issues to lead underwriters, and explains pricing decisions to agents. The internship provides foundational knowledge of insurance coverages, pricing, and commercial auto underwriting while developing detail orientation, accuracy, written communication, proofreading, and deadline-management skills.

Investigates, evaluates, and resolves property damage and bodily injury insurance claims. Analyzes coverage, assesses losses and liability, establishes reserves, identifies potential fraud, negotiates settlements, manages claim files, coordinates with adjusters and legal counsel, and ensures compliance with insurance laws and contracts.

Supports marketing communications by contacting prospective insurance agents, crafting marketing messages, gathering market intelligence, analyzing internal data, assisting with agency applications, and following up on incomplete information. The internship develops communication, data analysis, collaboration, insurance, and marketing operations skills.
