Teams at National Energy System Operator (NESO)

Owns and maximizes value for an assigned product area within the Open Balancing Platform. Responsibilities include understanding users and operational processes, translating strategy into features and delivery objectives, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, making evidence-based scope decisions, and supporting work from discovery through operational adoption. The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills in a multidisciplinary digital or change environment.

Lead the Strategic Energy Planning Portfolio Office, establish consistent PMO governance and processes, manage integrated plans, risks, dependencies, reporting, stage gates, and portfolio documentation. Lead and develop the PMO team, support programme approvals, drive continuous improvement, assure compliance with NESO standards, and engage senior internal and external stakeholders including DESNZ and Ofgem.

Leads NESO’s investor strategy capability, building a specialist team responsible for investor relations, capital market intelligence, and commercial advisory. The role develops investor insights, identifies investment risks, shapes funding structures and commercial mechanisms, and embeds investor perspectives into energy-system programmes and strategic decisions. It requires strong energy or infrastructure investment expertise, relationship-building, strategic analysis, senior stakeholder influence, and the ability to establish new ways of working while remaining hands-on.
