Supports management and stewardship of a 4,000-acre wildlife sanctuary. Responsibilities include habitat restoration and monitoring, infrastructure and equipment maintenance, emergency response, partnership development, volunteer and visitor programs, contractor and seasonal staff supervision, grant support, conservation planning, and public engagement. The role requires living on-site, performing outdoor work, operating equipment and vehicles, coordinating tours and training, addressing trespass issues, and traveling occasionally for operational needs.

Develop and implement Audubon’s U.S. conservation policy agenda by monitoring legislation and agency actions, conducting policy research, preparing analyses and advocacy materials, cultivating congressional and agency relationships, coordinating coalitions, mobilizing stakeholders, and supporting federal appropriations efforts. The role supervises temporary and intern staff, represents Audubon publicly, supports fundraising opportunities, tracks lobbying compliance, and works on-site in Washington, D.C.

Supports the CEO through executive speechwriting, remarks, articles, correspondence, social content, briefings, and talking points. Translates complex conservation, science, policy, and organizational strategy into compelling narratives tailored to diverse audiences. Researches and verifies information, captures the CEO’s voice, prepares leaders for engagements, develops thought leadership, edits materials, and manages multiple high-priority assignments under tight deadlines while collaborating with internal experts and communications partners.
