Teams at National Association of Social Workers (NASW)

Writes, researches, edits, and coordinates print and digital content for Social Work Advocates magazine. Develops issue content plans, investigates social work and policy topics, conducts interviews, covers events, edits freelance submissions, creates social media content, and assists with proofreading, headlines, captions, photography, and page proofs. The role also communicates editorial decisions, triages emails, and collaborates with NASW staff, members, leadership, and freelancers.

Manages financial planning and analysis, cash forecasting, treasury and banking administration, investment reporting, budgeting, payroll support, contract review, and cross-functional finance projects. Develops financial models, KPIs, variance analyses, executive reports, and process improvements while ensuring strong controls and accurate financial data. Supports annual budgets across NASW entities and advises senior leadership on financial decisions.

Leads legislative strategy and advocacy for NASW’s California and Hawaii chapters. Drafts bills, resolutions, amendments, and regulatory materials; analyzes policy and legislative developments; lobbies policymakers; provides testimony; builds coalitions; and advises social workers on legal and ethical issues. The role also develops grassroots advocacy programs, delivers training, collaborates with policy and legal teams, and may mentor policy staff.
