MyPinyon™ Inc

This is the story of two tech startup entrepreneurs, sisters Ashley - age 17 and Taylor - age 14. They have been inspired by using Apple iPads in Gurnee, IL, District 56 - an Apple Distinguished award winning district. Now they have taken what they have learned to an entirely new level. On a sofa in their living room, Ashley and Taylor loved looking at Pinterest pictures. Just two problems, though, they were lacking social interaction and competition with each other. Problem solved…Ashley and Taylor invented a new way to competitively have fun with pictures. In fact, what we have created is a competitive photo-based social media app called MyPinyon™. MyPinyon™ allows users to do three exciting things: 1) create and/or join others in photo competitions 2) post your own pictures and seek opinions of others 3) Vote and tally up ‘Wins’ that you can’t wait to check back on the next day. This is where mom, Ellen, and Appster, our software developer come in. Mom started to get in on the fun and recognized the idea as being potentially exciting for many. Ellen’s background in marketing provided a backdrop of knowledge and connections to get started. We hired Appster, a cutting edge app developer, to spearhead our development and be our CTO. As of April 20th, 2015, the project is in Sprint 7 of development and testing. We presented our project to Dr. Hutton, District 56 superintendent and staff who were thrilled when they learned that their students are applying what they have learned to the real world. So much so, that they have offered to help us make connections at Apple as well as allow us to present to the school board. What’s different about this app from Pinterest, or Instagram? MyPinyon™ offers an awesome balance between social interaction and competition with your friends. Oh…and one more thing, revenue. This app will allow brands to reach their target market in the most subtle way that actually makes people think their opinions matter, because they do!
