Teams at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC)

Obtains and manages prior authorizations for in-house procedures, Medicare HMO visits, radiology, behavioral health, and external referrals. Partners with clinics and referral teams, tracks approvals, resolves denials, and assists with peer-to-peer requests and appeals. Provides support for additional authorization and referral needs while maintaining timely, accurate communication with patients, families, providers, and colleagues.

Leads MAHEC’s enterprise marketing, brand strategy, communications, digital engagement, creative services, public relations, and reputation management. Oversees integrated campaigns, website governance, SEO, analytics, social media, marketing budgets, compliance, crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, and team development. Partners with clinical, educational, workforce, philanthropic, and community organizations to strengthen visibility and support strategic priorities.

Manage patient and insurance billing, accounts receivable, claim submission, denial resolution, payment posting, refunds, and collection accounts. Communicate with patients, payers, and staff regarding billing, coding, and coverage issues. Maintain reimbursement and collection KPIs, resolve electronic billing errors, ensure HIPAA compliance, and use insurance portals and Allscripts to process claims and payments.
