Supports automation, robotics, and systems engineering projects within Moderna’s Applied Technologies team. Responsibilities include configuring and testing laboratory automation systems, executing experiments, troubleshooting, analyzing performance data, developing scripts and workflows, preparing technical documentation, evaluating prototypes, and presenting findings. The intern collaborates with engineers and scientists to improve reliability, throughput, usability, and scalability of technical development workflows.

Supports pilot-scale Lipid Nanoparticle and Drug Product manufacturing in a biotechnology process development environment. Executes established manufacturing processes, prepares materials and equipment, operates and maintains pilot-scale equipment, follows laboratory and documentation practices, tracks materials, identifies issues, supports troubleshooting, and contributes to training, continuous improvement, and operational readiness.

Leads the software engineering organization supporting biotechnology research and CMC Development. Establishes engineering standards, operating models, portfolio practices, and talent development programs while overseeing full-stack applications, integrations, cloud architecture, reliability, security, and scalability. Partners with Product Management, Digital functions, and scientific stakeholders to translate complex research workflows into effective digital solutions. Requires extensive software engineering and leadership experience, including substantial biotechnology or biopharmaceutical experience.
