Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure using GCP services including BigQuery, Dataform, and Airflow. Optimize data processing for performance and cost, implement data quality testing, build data models and reusable components, and establish CI/CD practices. Collaborate across teams, contribute to architecture and documentation, mentor junior engineers, and apply AI tools to improve engineering workflows.

The Sr Software Engineer, Backend will develop and optimize backend services, mentor engineers, and lead technical discussions in building scalable systems for Mercari's marketplace platform.

Partner with Growth, Marketing, and Product to identify growth opportunities, run experiments, build data models and automated dashboards, and deliver actionable insights. Own end-to-end analytics projects, automate repetitive tasks with SQL and Python, and communicate findings to senior stakeholders to drive measurable business impact.
