Jobs at McMaster-Carr

Advance warehouse automation reliability and performance across AS/RS, packaging, receiving, picking, sortation, and material-flow systems. The role establishes standards, defines control and software behavior, analyzes faults and throughput, improves high-uptime operations, evaluates technical alternatives, and develops AI-enabled troubleshooting tools. Responsibilities also include managing multiple engineering projects, solving complex system issues, and collaborating across hardware, controls, software, process design, analytics, and operations.

Conduct risk-based penetration tests, assumed-breach exercises, adversary simulations, and purple-team engagements across enterprise systems, applications, networks, identity platforms, and cloud environments. Evaluate preventive, detective, and response controls, validate detection and incident-response effectiveness, and translate technical findings into risk-based remediation recommendations for technical teams, executives, Internal Audit, and the Audit Committee. Build an independent, continuously improving offensive-security assurance program.

The IT Audit Project Lead will conduct independent audits, assess IT security controls, and build relationships with technology leaders while developing knowledge of custom-built systems.

Lead maintenance and facilities teams supporting HVAC, electrical, emergency power, plumbing, life-safety, security, data center, and other critical building systems. Responsibilities include developing technicians and supervisors, improving preventive and predictive maintenance through CMMS practices, resolving complex failures, planning maintenance and capital investments, managing contractors and engineering firms, and delivering facility upgrades through commissioning while maintaining safety, compliance, reliability, and continuous operations.

The Reliability and Automation Technician maintains and troubleshoots industrial machinery and automated systems, ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability through preventive maintenance and corrective actions.

Lead the company-wide evolution of reliability, platform, and infrastructure engineering across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments. Set architectural direction, improve distributed-system resilience and performance, strengthen cloud and runtime security, and mature incident response through automation and operational practices. Manage, mentor, and develop engineers while leading cross-functional initiatives spanning infrastructure, customer-facing platforms, AI and data systems, and fulfillment automation.

Contribute to high-scale production software for an e-commerce company, working on customer-facing features and automation, while advancing to technical leadership roles.

The role involves guiding customers through product offerings, solving urgent delivery issues, and building long-lasting customer relationships. It requires adaptability and a focus on customer experience.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll lead high-impact projects, own the full lifecycle of software development, mentor engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to enhance systems and customer experiences.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize software solutions for e-commerce and automate logistics, while mentoring junior engineers.

As a Senior z/OS Platform Engineer, you will enhance mainframe software systems, support infrastructure tasks, and mentor team members.

Entry-level engineering role for new graduates to build customer-facing features, apply AI, improve fulfillment systems, automate workflows, and create dashboards and tools that scale operations. Work includes coding, debugging, designing solutions, and collaborating across engineering, operations, and business teams.

Maintain and troubleshoot automated equipment (PLCs, conveyors, robotics, VFDs), perform preventive and predictive maintenance (thermography, vibration analysis), lead root cause analyses, document work in CMMS, and ensure safety compliance (LOTO, robot guarding) to maximize uptime and reliability.
