Supports behavioral assessment, care, and placement of shelter animals, primarily dogs. Coordinates foster-home matching, training, handoffs, follow-up, medical schedules, behavior plans, playgroups, and records. Provides customer service to fosters, adopters, volunteers, and staff; coordinates veterinary appointments; maintains foster databases and reports; and supports shelter operations, animal enrichment, and volunteer engagement.

Coordinates the shelter’s dog foster program by recruiting, training, and supporting foster caregivers; matching dogs with suitable homes; maintaining foster and animal records; and coordinating handoffs, medical care, medications, vaccinations, veterinary appointments, and behavior plans. Provides customer service, education, follow-up communication, adoption support, and collaboration with veterinary and shelter teams.

Oversee the shelter’s foster cat program, including kitten care, vaccinations, routine medical support, Foster to Adopt coordination, foster counseling, and placement activities. Maintain foster records, schedule veterinary appointments and surgeries, train fosters and volunteers, respond to emergencies, support adoptions, and collaborate across shelter departments. The role requires customer service, animal handling, weekend and holiday availability, and comfort working with animals experiencing illness, injury, or mistreatment.
