Processes and preserves historic motion-picture collections by inspecting 16mm and 35mm film, identifying production elements, documenting condition, rehousing materials, creating inventories and metadata, applying barcodes, conducting quality reviews, and reporting workflow metrics. The archivist collaborates with federal agency staff, develops processing procedures, supports long-term storage preparation, and recommends improvements for complex film collections.

Provides in-person and remote reference services, research assistance, literature reviews, and systematic literature searches. Supports collection development by selecting, evaluating, and weeding print and electronic resources. Participates in bibliometrics research, library website content development, policy updates, and collaborative projects. The role requires independent work, strong communication, and at least two years of reference experience in a special or federal library.

Performs metadata cleanup, remediation, validation, and quality assurance in Ex Libris Alma for a federal research library. Reviews bibliographic and research metadata, verifies scholarly identifiers, applies MARC, RDA, Dublin Core, authority-control, and controlled-vocabulary standards, and uses Python or related tools for analysis and automation. Executes approved changes within governance and change-control procedures, maintains audit documentation, prepares progress reports, and collaborates with library, technical, and government stakeholders.
