Electrical and embedded software engineering intern supporting development of electromechanical surgical devices. Responsibilities include developing and debugging C/C++ firmware, designing and testing circuits and PCBs, hardware bring-up, integrating microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and actuators, troubleshooting with electrical test equipment, and supporting verification and documentation. The role is full-time and on-site in Bedford, Massachusetts, from June through August 2027.

Develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for surgical stapling devices using C and C++ on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. Build drivers, communication interfaces, motor-control logic, and sensor integrations. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers during hardware bring-up and bench debugging. Support verification, validation, code reviews, and documentation compliant with FDA design controls and IEC 62304.

Design and develop embedded electrical systems for powered surgical stapling devices. Responsibilities include schematic capture, PCB design, component selection, mixed-signal and microcontroller-based circuit development, hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, system integration, verification, validation, and regulated design documentation. The role collaborates with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams and supports troubleshooting and design updates for fielded medical devices.
