Summer legal intern supporting the Reentry Justice Project. Responsibilities include conducting criminal record searches, interviewing clients, obtaining police and court records, drafting motions to seal criminal records, and attending project meetings and skills workshops. The internship is full-time for 10 weeks, primarily based in Washington, DC, with limited remote work possible and local travel required for programming events.

Summer law intern supporting the Public Benefits Law Unit through legal and factual research, legal writing, client intake and follow-up, benefits-status calls, medical-record review, pro se materials, and observation of hearings and client work. The intern will assist attorneys with substantive, administrative, and project support related to public benefits including SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Social Security, and unemployment insurance.

Summer law intern supporting the Immigration Law Unit through legal research, case development, document review, client interaction, immigration form assistance, court and USCIS observation, file organization, and collaboration on public-interest advocacy. The internship runs 10 weeks, full-time, with primarily in-office work in Washington, DC and some approved remote work. Interns receive supervision from a senior immigration attorney and may receive scholarship funding.

Responsibilities include legal research using Lexis, drafting briefs, motions, and correspondence, cite-checking and proofreading, oral argument preparation, docket and record review, issue-spotting, and administrative support. The intern will work full-time for 10 weeks, primarily from the organization’s Washington, DC office, with limited remote work and local travel for programming events.

Summer law intern supporting Legal Aid DC’s Pro Bono Program. Responsibilities include screening individuals seeking assistance, responding to requests, interviewing clients, drafting case summaries, gathering records, preparing referral materials, filing documents with courts and agencies, and providing administrative support. The 10-week internship runs May 27 through August 6, 2027, primarily from the organization’s Washington, DC office, with limited remote work and local travel for programming events.
