The General Counsel will serve as the Latin School of Chicago’s sole in-house attorney and senior legal advisor to the Head of School and Board of Trustees. Responsibilities include building the legal function, developing policies and agreements, managing institutional risk, advising on employment and labor matters, supporting student rights and safety compliance, delivering legal training, handling disputes, and guiding nonprofit governance. Coordinates daily after-school Extended Day operations, including staff schedules, room coverage, student transitions, attendance, dismissals, parent communication, activities, and behavior support. Provides coaching and coverage for staff, maintains organized and engaging program spaces, documents incidents, and communicates operational needs and improvements with program leadership. Supports a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for students, families, and staff.

Provide in-person substitute instruction and supervision for Lower School students from Junior Kindergarten through fifth grade. Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, applying instructional methods, managing classroom technology, maintaining classroom management, and collaborating effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and administration.

Lead games, crafts, and age-appropriate activities for school-age children in an after-school program. Supervise students, maintain a safe and welcoming environment, build positive relationships, support transitions, set up and clean activity spaces, collaborate with teammates, and communicate with parents or guardians during dismissal.

Supervise middle school students during the after-school transition, monitor hallways and commons areas, oversee a quiet homework room, enforce behavioral expectations, encourage respectful interactions, maintain safe and organized spaces, and report significant incidents or safety concerns to administrators.

Provide in-person instruction and supervision for Middle and Upper School students. Substitute Teachers implement lesson plans, apply appropriate instructional methods, manage classrooms, use classroom technology, and build effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and parents.
