Manages technical assurance for Northern Powerhouse Rail schemes across contracts and workstreams. Responsibilities include coordinating assurance processes, reviewing contractor evidence, managing verification and validation, monitoring risks and competencies, reporting KPIs, supporting audits, improving procedures, and collaborating with engineering, safety, risk, configuration, BIM, and information management teams. The role also provides technical leadership, supervises and mentors colleagues, and ensures compliance with infrastructure, railway safety, quality, and governance requirements.

Manage HS2’s scope and change management processes, including governance, baselines, contingency, stage gates, change registers, assurance, and reporting. Evaluate change proposals’ effects on scope, cost, budgets, schedules, and risks; advise stakeholders and delivery teams; maintain change controls; and support timely approvals and decision-making across the major programme.

Manage engineering delivery for a high-speed rail infrastructure programme, assuring route and asset designs meet technical, sponsor, and safety requirements. Lead design reviews, resolve technical issues, manage professional services contracts, coordinate interfaces with Network Rail, support reporting and stakeholder engagement, and oversee a team of Project Engineers. Ensure delivery is safe, affordable, high quality, on time, and within budget while promoting collaboration, inclusion, and personnel development.
