The role also provides guidance, training, user testing, line management and support for decision-making across the HS2 programme.

Manages technical assurance for Northern Powerhouse Rail schemes across contracts and workstreams. Responsibilities include coordinating assurance processes, reviewing contractor evidence, managing verification and validation, monitoring risks and competencies, reporting KPIs, supporting audits, improving procedures, and collaborating with engineering, safety, risk, configuration, BIM, and information management teams. The role also provides technical leadership, supervises and mentors colleagues, and ensures compliance with infrastructure, railway safety, quality, and governance requirements.

Manages integrated project baselines covering scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality for HS2 projects. Oversees supply-chain project controls, analyzes performance data and trends, maintains client schedules, coordinates change and reporting processes, assures controls data quality, and supports governance forums. The role also includes risk management, stakeholder presentations, performance reviews, and functional line management of direct reports.
