Teams at High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd

Leads commercial legal advice for high-value procurement, construction contracts, contract management, insurance, FOI, and contractual disputes supporting HS2 railway projects. Advises senior stakeholders, negotiates complex terms, manages external law firms and budgets, provides expertise on UK GDPR and TUPE, supports board reporting, and improves legal processes, training, and templates. Requires a qualified solicitor with extensive utilities procurement and contract management experience, preferably involving NEC3 contracts.

Provides commercial and contract law advice across HS2, including complex construction, procurement, corporate, technology, finance, intellectual property, GDPR, and data protection matters. Leads legal support for procurements, drafts contracts and precedents, advises on claims and disputes, manages external counsel, delivers legal training, supports senior leadership, and supervises junior lawyers. Requires a qualified solicitor or barrister with commercial, procurement, construction, infrastructure, or public-sector legal experience.

Provides operational support to the CFO Directorate by managing workforce planning, recruitment approvals, contract extensions, performance monitoring, forecasting, procurement, and business improvement initiatives. The role coordinates with HR, Finance, Facilities, Communications, and other corporate functions, resolves operational queries, supports governance and leadership meetings, and contributes to change initiatives. Strong organization, analysis, stakeholder management, project management, and Microsoft Office and Oracle ERP skills are required.
