Mechanical Design Interns apply engineering concepts to design mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. They assist with developing efficient, cost-effective, resilient, and sustainable design solutions while gaining exposure to professional design processes and related departments. The role requires a current student pursuing an engineering degree, strong mathematical and communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and foundational knowledge of high-performance mechanical system design.

Markets mechanical and plumbing retrofit solutions to commercial clients, develops turnkey designs and estimates, prepares and presents proposals, prospects for new business, manages customer relationships, and maintains sales pipelines. The role requires assessing existing facility systems, interpreting drawings and specifications, calculating project costs and resources, developing financial and energy-savings justifications, and recommending cost-effective repair, modification, or replacement solutions.

Leads BIM/VDC modeling and coordination for complex mechanical construction projects. Develops detailed Revit-based 3D models for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and ductwork to LOD 400; manages clash detection, model setup, multidisciplinary coordination, construction sequencing, cost and schedule analysis, walkthroughs, and record drawings. Supports BIM execution plans, drawing production, model handoff, and VDC process improvement.
