Guten Foods operates a family of restaurants rooted in authentic German cuisine, festive atmosphere and friendly, welcoming service. Its Portland-area history began with Der Rheinländer, opened under Chef Horst Mager in 1963. The company later introduced Gustav’s as a traditional German beer-hall concept featuring house-made sausages, rotisserie meats and an extensive beer selection, then expanded into Vancouver, Washington, and Tigard, Oregon.
