Reports and develops national news stories, investigations, interviews, features, live blogs, and multimedia content across digital and print platforms. Breaks exclusive stories, monitors news sources, identifies emerging trends, collaborates with editors, data specialists, and visual journalists, and uses social media to engage audiences. The role also involves contributing to video and audio features and covering major breaking news stories with national impact.

Report and produce news stories, features, interviews, multimedia, and analysis about Scotland across digital, print, and other platforms. Break exclusive stories, develop trusted contacts, monitor Scottish issues, collaborate with editors and departments, and contribute innovative digital storytelling. The role requires strong knowledge of Scottish politics, proven reporting and feature-writing ability, media law knowledge, and preferably NCTJ training.

Own and prioritise the iOS and Android apps platform roadmap, balancing product and technical priorities. Collaborate with engineering, data and stakeholders to identify platform opportunities, reduce maintenance and cognitive load, improve security and reliability, and measure impact via KPIs. Treat internal tools as products, gather feedback, and report to senior product leadership alongside the engineering manager.
